CTi® Knee Ligament Brace

Ligaments are tough bands of tissue connecting the bones at the knee joint, with tendons connecting the muscles to the bone. Ligaments can be damaged as a result of numerous sports, from football to rugby to high impact motocross, with lengthy rehabilitation for the more serious injuries.

Footballer
An injured ACL is a common football injury

One of the more common forms of injuries affects the ACL or anterior cruciate ligament, one of the main ligaments in the knee joint. Symptoms include instability of the joint and the feeling that the knee gives way upon weight bearing. The joint itself becomes very unstable post injury and can inhibit mobility. Simple tasks such as turning on the spot can cause pain and instability.

Around 40% of all ACL injuries are as a direct result of high impact sports such as tennis, squash and football where there is a degree of quick turning and pivoting on the joint. Bike accidents can also result in ACL injuries, from landing incorrectly or as a result of collisions and crashes.

When ligament injuries occur, the knee loses the natural mechanism which supports and stabilises the joint. As a result the main priority for treating these injuries is to restore stability, to protect the knee from further injury and support it when in use. Surgery is successful in 90% of cases, though still requires up to a year before an individual can return to their sport and begin training once again.

CTi®  Knee Ligament Brace

With the ACL being a pivotal ligament it is important that the knee joint is fully protected to avoid up to a year on the sidelines. Ligament braces such as the CTi knee brace are

designed to stabilise the knee joint, using a rigid carbon fibre frame to minimise any unnatural movements of the joint. It is worn by many extreme sports stars to allow them to compete at the highest level with the confidence to continue performing.

The CTi knee brace is worn by professionals and amateurs from a range of sports, including snowboarding, wakeboarding, BMX and Speedway. The professionals know the importance of staying fit as they compete to be the best in their chosen field and the CTi gives them the confidence to push harder and faster as they strive for glory.

It is typically used by sports people for any ACL / PCL / MCL / LCL injuries. In the event of any accident they can be assured that the CTi will offer maximum protection for their knee joint.

The CTi is available in both an off the shelf (OTS) version and as a custom. The CTi OTS model  works in the same way as the custom, however it substitutes parts of the rigid frame for flexible subshells, which allow for greater flexibility without compromising the rigidity of the frame.

The custom fit model is built to fit you specifically, so you can feel comfortable that you are wearing something bespoke and made to measure. It is also available in a choice of standard colours and even custom colour designs for something a little special.
